Limiting The Number of User Devices - Usage Restrictions

At Teyuto, we understand the importance of managing and controlling user access to your OTT (Over-The-Top) solution.

To help you maintain control over your content distribution and protect your digital assets, we provide the feature of limiting the number of user devices through usage restrictions.

This feature enables you to set specific limitations on the number of devices that can access your OTT platform or streaming service per user account.

Why Limit User Devices?

Limiting the number of user devices offers several advantages, including:

  1. Content Protection

By restricting the number of devices allowed per user account, you can prevent the unauthorized sharing of login credentials and protect your premium content from being accessed by unauthorized users.

  1. License Compliance

Some content providers require strict adherence to licensing agreements, which may include limitations on the number of devices that can access their content. By enforcing device limits, you can ensure compliance with these agreements.

  1. Resource Optimization

Limiting the number of devices can help optimize your delivery of VoD and live streaming content. By reducing excessive simultaneous streaming across multiple devices, you can prevent your video delivery costs from ballooning.

How to set the number of user devices?

  • Click on the Settings Option

First, click on the “Settings” option in the left menu bar.

  • Scroll Down to “User Restrictions”

Scroll down to User Restrictions and press “Select Some Options” under “Geoblocking”.

  • Enter the Maximum Number of Devices

Right next to Geoblocking, you’ll find the text input area for the maximum number of connected devices per user.

Select the option and input your desired number. By default, 50 is the maximum number of allowed devices per end-user account.

  • Scroll Down and Press Save

Now, just scroll down and press the “Save” button.

Setting usage restrictions and limiting the number of user devices in your Teyuto OTT solution can enhance content protection, license compliance, and resource optimization.

However, you must also remember that your users may not necessarily view your video content using a single screen (smartphone, tablet, laptop, smart TV, etc.). Teyuto also comes with the ability to resume watching on a different device.

You should put a cap on the maximum number of connected devices as per your discretion and the usage patterns of your users.

Communicating Device Limitations to Users

It is important to communicate device limitations clearly to your users to avoid confusion and enhance transparency. Consider implementing the following measures:

  • Terms of Service

Update your Terms of Service to include information about the device limits. Clearly outline the restrictions, including the maximum number of devices allowed per user account.

  • Customer Support

Offer accessible customer support across channels, such as live chat or email, to assist users who have questions or encounter issues related to device limits.

Ensure your support team is well-informed about this feature and can provide prompt assistance.
