Editing a Video
You can begin editing a video right after uploading it. After it uploads, you can press the “Edit” button (highlighted below).
However, if you want to edit an already uploaded video, click on the “Video” option on the left menu bar.
Search for the video in your video library. If you have a large library, make sure to check out our video search guide for best practices.
Once you find the video you want to edit, click on its hamburger menu on the right.
Click “Edit”.
After clicking the edit button on a video, you’ll have this dialog box in front of you:
- Update the Video Title
Teyuto automatically fetches the filename of your video and makes it the default video title. But, as you can see, the video file name was neither descriptive nor does it relate to the video we are uploading (a scenic view of a waterfall on a lush mountain).
Suppose we are uploading this video as a travel agency to attract vacationers.
So, let’s update the video title.
See how the title now effectively communicates what the video is about.
- Add a Description
In the "Description" field, provide a concise yet descriptive summary of the video. If you are using an AI-based recommendation engine like Teti.ai, your descriptions will also carry weight in search results and video recommendations.
So, try to make it as descriptive as possible. If your audience looks up videos using certain search terms or tags, it is good to have them in your description too.
- Choose or Upload a Cover Image
Next, it's time to set the perfect cover image for your video. You can either choose one of the auto-generated thumbnails from the video or upload a custom image. Keep in mind that an eye-catching and high-quality cover image will draw more viewers to your video. This cover image also serves as your video thumbnail.
If you wish to upload your own cover image, then click on this image section (highlighted below):
Now, choose your cover image and click open.
Your selected cover will now be visible in the cover image section.
- Set Up Date Time
We will set up the date and time of the video now.
Click on the date option.
A date-time input menu will open in front of you. Choose your preferred date and time.
- Release the video on the selected date
Now, using the radio button above the date-time input, you can also choose to make the video visible on the selected date. This button helps you schedule your releases as per your determined schedule.
- Hide the video on a date
You can also choose to hide the video on a particular date using the radio button below the date-time input.
Upon clicking this button, a new date-time input will appear below. Choose a date and time when you want this video to disappear from the public view. It will still be available in your video library.
- Create Tags
Tags are crisp keywords that help your viewers find your content. They also carry weight in video recommendations.
Note: Tags carry lower weight in search and recommendations as compared to titles and descriptions.
Click on the text input field of the Tags option and enter your desired tags.
Here, you need to note that any text you enter without a line break is considered a single tag (including any space in between).
For instance, below, “Teyuto Expeditions” is considered a single tag as the line break was given after typing the word “Expeditions” (see above).
- Add to Collections
Select a Collection to make this video a part of. A collection is a group of related videos that are clubbed together. They can be in series or loosely related videos. If you haven’t added a collection yet, check out our guide on how to add a collection.
To make your video a part of a collection, click on “Add Collections…”. A drop-down menu with all the available collections will open in front of you.
Click on your desired collection.
Note: A video can only be a part of a single collection and inherits its privacy policy.
- Privacy policy
If you want to create a custom privacy policy for a video, it shouldn’t be a part of any collection previously. If so, you will first have to remove it from its collection. Click on the close icon on the right side of the collection.
Now, you will see a Privacy option appear in front of you.
Click on this privacy option and choose your desired privacy settings.
- Send an email notification to your users
Spread the word about your video! Let your registered users know with an email notification. Click on the radio button here.
Upon doing so, you will see text input fields for Subject and Message. Enter your personalized message and continue.
Note: The email notification will be sent to your audience only after the video uploads on your selected date.
- Save your changes
Finally, press the save button at the bottom to save your changes.
And, voila! There you have your video edited!
Now, you can edit the video further (add subtitles, attachments, and pop-ups), embed the video to your platform, or view its analytics.
